Zayed National Museum

Zayed National Museum, located in Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Cultural District, celebrates the United Arab Emirates’ history and culture. Opened on December 3, 2025, the museum honors the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the nation’s founding father. It features six permanent galleries and an outdoor garden, Al Masar Garden, showcasing over 1,500 artifacts spanning 300,000 years of human history. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Lord Norman Foster, the museum’s architecture symbolizes a falcon in flight, reflecting the UAE’s heritage. Visitors can explore exhibitions, dine at Erth Restaurant, and shop at Al Nagwa Boutique. The museum is open daily from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, with last entry one hour before closing. Zayed National Museum opened in December 2025 on Saadiyat Island as the UAE's national museum, and it is the newest of the major institutions in Abu Dhabi's cultural district. Norman Foster's design puts five steel wing-forms above a landscaped mound, shaped after falcon feathers and functioning as solar thermal towers that draw hot air upward — an environmental strategy dressed as heritage symbolism. Six permanent galleries hold over 1,500 objects spanning 300,000 years, running from prehistoric Arabia and Bronze Age trade through the pearling economy and Islamic scholarship to the founding of the federation, organised around the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Being new, it is less crowded than the Louvre Abu Dhabi nearby but also less known, and visitor routines are still settling. It opens daily until 8pm with last entry an hour before, and the Al Masar Garden outdoors is part of the visit. Tickets are sold online.
