The British Motor Museum at Gaydon holds over 400 vehicles and functions as the national collection of British motoring — a story that is substantially one of decline, and the museum does not disguise it.

The marques represented include those that no longer exist: Austin, Morris, Riley, Wolseley, Triumph, Rover, MG and the rest, absorbed into British Leyland and largely destroyed through the industrial disputes, underinvestment and quality failures of the 1970s. The collection includes prototypes and concept cars that never reached production, which are among the most interesting objects.

Landmark vehicles include early Austin Sevens, the original Mini, Land Rovers, Jaguars and the record-breaking cars.

A second hall holds the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust collection.

Gaydon sits in Warwickshire near the M40, and the site is a former RAF airfield.
