Raymond Buckland was the man who brought Wicca to the United States, initiated in Britain by Gerald Gardner's high priestess in 1963, and he assembled the first museum of witchcraft in America from his own collection.

The museum in Cleveland holds that material: ritual tools, grimoires, protective charms, divination objects, and items associated with named figures in twentieth-century occultism including Gardner and Aleister Crowley. Alongside sit folk-magic objects — witch bottles, poppets, hex signs — and material on the persecutions, spiritualism and the paranormal.

The collection is presented as historical and anthropological rather than sensational, documenting a set of practices and beliefs that shaped a genuine modern religious movement.

It is small, and it is idiosyncratic in the way single-collector museums are.
