The Eswatini National Museum sits at Lobamba in the Ezulwini valley, and the location is the point: this is the country's traditional and legislative capital, where the royal residence, the parliament and the national stadium stand together. Established in 1972, the museum covers Swazi culture, history and natural history — traditional dress and regalia, household and agricultural implements, beadwork, and displays on the monarchy and the ceremonies that structure the national calendar, including Incwala and the Umhlanga reed dance.

A reconstructed traditional homestead in the grounds shows how a Swazi umuti was laid out and used, which conveys considerably more than the indoor cases.

Adjacent is the King Sobhuza II Memorial Park, dedicated to the monarch who reigned from 1899 until 1982 — one of the longest documented reigns anywhere — and who led the country to independence from Britain in 1968. The two sites are normally visited together and most tickets cover both.
