The FC Porto Museum is among the better football club museums in Europe, and it avoids the trophy-cabinet trap that catches most of them. Opened in 2013 inside the Estadio do Dragao, it uses 2,500 square metres and a strongly designed, largely interactive route to tell the club's story over more than 120 years — the founding, the rivalry with Lisbon's clubs, the European Cup wins of 1987 and 2004, and the managers and players who passed through, José Mourinho's title-winning side prominent among them.
The trophies are there, but the displays lean on multimedia, club symbolism and the relationship between the club and the city, which in Porto is genuinely a matter of identity rather than sport alone.
Most visitors combine museum entry with the stadium tour, which covers the dressing rooms, tunnel, pitchside and press areas — the combination is the stronger experience and is how tickets are usually sold. On matchdays the stadium portion does not run, so checking the fixture list before booking is worth the minute it takes.
