Casa Azul is the house Frida Kahlo was born in, lived in, and died in, and the Coyoacán museum has kept it largely as it was — the blue walls, the kitchen, her studio, the wheelchair at the easel and the bed with the mirror overhead. It opened in 1958, four years after her death, and its intimacy is the point: this is a biography told through rooms rather than a gallery hang. Capacity is limited and timed entry is strictly enforced, so walk-ups are frequently turned away.
