Gasoline Alley sits inside Heritage Park, Canada's largest living history museum, and it holds one of the finest collections of antique vehicles and petroliana in the country. The core came from a single collector, Ron Carey, and it covers the early twentieth century through the 1950s: cars and trucks, but also the restored gas pumps, enamel signs, oil cans and service-station fittings that document how motoring worked before it became routine.

The petroliana is genuinely the distinguishing element — the density of restored signage and pumps recreates the visual environment of the early road, which the vehicles alone would not. Alberta's oil economy gives the material local weight.

Heritage Park around it is a substantial attraction in its own right, with a recreated prairie town, working steam train, paddle steamer and costumed interpreters, and a full day is easy to spend. It is seasonal, with the historical village operating in the warmer months while Gasoline Alley stays open year-round.
