The Hellenic Motor Museum occupies the upper floors of a converted 1920s industrial building in central Athens, and it holds over 110 cars covering the automobile from its earliest years to the late twentieth century. The collection is arranged thematically rather than strictly chronologically, with sections on pioneering vehicles, luxury marques, sports and racing cars, and microcars.

It has more Greek relevance than the subject might suggest. Greece was never a car-manufacturing country of consequence, but the collection includes vehicles associated with Greek public life and the specific conditions of Greek motoring, alongside international marques, and the road safety education component reflects a country with a historically difficult accident record.

There is a driving simulator, which draws children.

The museum's practical merit is location and climate: it sits near Victoria and Omonia stations in the city centre, indoors and air-conditioned, which matters in an Athens summer where most attractions are open-air and exposed.
