The Holy Quran Museum sits in Mecca's Hira Cultural District, near the mountain where, in Islamic tradition, the first revelation was received in the cave of Hira. Opened as part of Saudi Arabia's expansion of religious and cultural facilities for pilgrims, it presents the history of the Quran as a text: rare manuscripts, early Kufic copies on parchment, calligraphic traditions across the Islamic world, and the methods by which the text was preserved, transmitted and standardised.

The interactive sections cover memorisation and recitation practice, the science of tajwid, and the technical work of manuscript conservation.

The museum serves a specific audience — pilgrims performing Hajj or Umrah, for whom it forms part of a wider visit to the sites around the Haram — and the surrounding Hira district includes exhibits on the revelation and a viewing point toward Jabal al-Nour.

Non-Muslims cannot enter Mecca, which is a legal restriction rather than a museum policy, and this determines who can visit at all. For pilgrims, allow ninety minutes. The main booking is an entrance ticket. Current availability is listed below.
