CG Gallery Lloret presents Antarctica through photography and virtual reality — large-format images of ice, wildlife and the Antarctic landscape, combined with VR headsets that place the viewer inside the continent, and interactive installations covering penguins, the Southern Ocean and the polar environment.

The premise is that almost nobody will ever go: Antarctic tourism is expensive, limited and increasingly questioned on environmental grounds, and photography plus immersive technology is the realistic substitute for the overwhelming majority of people. The conservation framing — ice loss, ecosystem pressure, the Antarctic Treaty system — runs through it.

It sits in Lloret de Mar on the Costa Brava, a resort town where the alternative attractions are largely beach-based, which makes an hour indoors on a subject this remote an appealing contrast, particularly with children or in poor weather.
