The National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium sits at the southern tip of Taiwan in Kenting National Park, and it is among the largest aquariums in Asia. Three main pavilions structure it: Waters of Taiwan, following water from mountain streams down through rivers to the coast; the Coral Kingdom, with a walk-through acrylic tunnel beneath reef tanks and a beluga whale display; and Waters of the World, which uses large-scale projection alongside live exhibits to cover ocean environments including a polar section.

The research function is substantial — the museum is affiliated with a national university and conducts marine science alongside display, with conservation and reef restoration work in the surrounding waters, which are among Taiwan's richest.
