Over 80 aircraft cover Italian aviation from the earliest machines through both world wars to the jet age, and the seaplane holdings are exceptional — Italy invested heavily in flying boats, and the collection includes machines from the transatlantic formation flights Italo Balbo led in the early 1930s, which were among the great aviation feats of the period.
The Macchi racing seaplanes built for the Schneider Trophy are here, including a Macchi M.C.72, which held the world speed record for propeller-driven seaplanes for decades.
