Sinsheim is one of the largest technology museums in Europe and it is built around scale rather than subtlety. Over 3,000 exhibits fill the halls and grounds, but two aircraft dominate: a Tupolev Tu-144 and a Concorde, mounted side by side on the roof at a steep angle as if climbing, both open to walk through.
They are the only two supersonic passenger aircraft ever to enter service, and seeing them together — the Soviet design that flew first and failed commercially, and the Anglo-French one that lasted twenty-seven years — is the reason many people come.
Below them: hundreds of cars from veteran to Formula One, motorcycles, locomotives, military aircraft and vehicles from both world wars, and a substantial collection of Soviet-era hardware.
The sister museum at Speyer holds a Boeing 747 and a Buran shuttle, and combined tickets cover both.
