The Troy Museum, located near the ancient city of Troy in Tevfikiye village, Çanakkale, Turkey, opened in October 2018. It exhibits artifacts from Troy and surrounding ancient cities, offering insights into the region’s rich history.
Planning your visit
Heinrich Schliemann dug at Hisarlık in the 1870s convinced he had found Homer's Troy, and he was probably right about the site and catastrophically destructive in his methods, cutting a trench through the levels and removing the treasure he called Priam's to Germany. Nine cities are stacked there, spanning roughly 3,000 years.
The museum opened in 2018 in Tevfikiye village beside the site: a rusted steel cube by Yalın Architectural Design, sunk into the ground and walked upward through the chronological displays, which won international awards.
Around 2,000 objects come from Troy and the wider Troad, including gold jewellery repatriated from abroad — the restitution of Trojan material is an ongoing diplomatic matter.
