The Bullfighting Museum sits inside Alicante's nineteenth-century bullring and covers the tradition in the city and in Spain more broadly: bullfighters' costumes — the traje de luces, heavy with gold thread — capes, hats, swords, trophies and personal belongings of matadors associated with the ring.

Bullfighting is contested in Spain, banned in some regions and defended in others as cultural heritage, and visitors will bring their own views. The museum presents it as tradition and craft rather than debating the ethics, which is worth knowing before entering.

Admission to the museum itself is free, but it does not include access to the rest of the bullring — the arena, the pens and the chapel where matadors pray before fighting are covered by separate guided tours, and those are the more interesting part of the site architecturally.
