The Chicago Sports Museum sits inside Water Tower Place on the Magnificent Mile, attached to a Harry Caray's restaurant — the sportscaster whose seventh-inning-stretch singing at Wrigley Field became a Cubs institution.
The collection covers Chicago sport: the Cubs and White Sox, the Bears, the Bulls of the Jordan era, the Blackhawks, with game-used artefacts and memorabilia. The Steve Bartman ball — the foul ball a fan deflected in 2003, blamed for costing the Cubs a World Series appearance, later bought and publicly detonated — is among the more notorious objects associated with the museum.
Interactive elements dominate: visitors test reaction times, throwing speed, boxing power and vertical leap against professional benchmarks, which is the main draw for younger visitors.
