Choco-Story Paris offers an immersive journey through the history of chocolate, featuring over 1,000 artifacts, interactive exhibits, and delicious tastings.
Planning your visit
Choco-Story Paris covers 4,000 years of chocolate, and the early part of the story is the interesting part. Cacao was a ritual and currency crop for the Olmec, Maya and Aztec, drunk bitter, spiced with chilli and used in ceremony; the sweetened solid bar familiar today is a nineteenth-century European industrial product. The museum traces that transformation through over 1,000 artefacts including pre-Columbian vessels, historical chocolate services, moulds and machinery.
Demonstrations of tempering and moulding run through the day, with tastings included at several points — the tastings are generous and are what most visitors remember.
Workshops allow visitors to make their own chocolates, and these require booking separately.
It sits on Boulevard de Bonne Nouvelle in the 10th arrondissement, and takes around ninety minutes.
For families it is a reliable option, and the historical framing means adults get more than a sales pitch.
Bookable options include entry tickets and formats with hotel pickup. Current availability is shown below.
