Karol Wedel opened a confectionery in Warsaw in 1851 and his son Emil built the factory on Zamoyskiego that still operates — through the German occupation, nationalisation under communism when the name was changed to 22 July and customers kept asking for Wedel anyway, and privatisation after 1989.
The museum opened in 2024 inside that factory, and the visit combines the history with the production: the family story, the interwar advertising that was among the best graphic design in Poland, the wartime years, and the process from bean to bar.
Ptasie mleczko, the marshmallow-filled bar Wedel invented in 1936, is a national institution.
Tastings run through the tour and workshops let visitors make their own.
