Split doubled as Meereen in Game of Thrones, and the city has built a small industry on it — Diocletian's Palace cellars appeared as the vaults where Daenerys kept her dragons, and the Klis fortress above the city stood in for the city gates. The museum in the old town collects the merchandise side of that: replica weapons, costume reproductions, the Iron Throne for photographs, and themed rooms recreating settings from the series.

It is a fan attraction rather than a production archive — most items are reproductions rather than screen-used originals — and it works best if that expectation is set. For anyone travelling with a devoted fan, or looking for something indoors on a hot afternoon, it does its job.

The more substantial Game of Thrones experience in Split is the locations themselves, which are free to walk: the palace substructures, the Peristyle, and the streets around them. Klis fortress, fifteen minutes inland, is worth the trip on its own merits regardless of the series.
