MiniMuPa is a hands-on children's museum in Palermo's Kalsa district, covering Sicilian history, art, environment and technology through interactive stations designed for participation rather than observation.

The Sicilian focus is what distinguishes it. Children encounter the island's layered past — Phoenician, Greek, Roman, Arab, Norman — its ecology and its crafts through play, in a city where those layers are visible in the streets outside but rarely explained at a child's level.

The Kalsa is one of Palermo's oldest quarters, laid out by the Arabs in the tenth century, badly bombed in 1943 and long neglected before recent regeneration; the museum is part of that effort.

Palermo has relatively little aimed at younger children given its wealth of adult-oriented churches and palaces, which makes this useful for families. Allow ninety minutes. The main booking is an entry ticket. Current availability is listed below.
