Confetti in Italian means sugared almonds, not paper streamers, and Andria in Puglia has made them since 1894 through the Mucci family, who claim descent from an earlier confectionery tradition and hold recipes going back generations. The sugared almond is deeply embedded in Italian social ritual — distributed at weddings, baptisms, communions and graduations, with the colour and quantity coded to the occasion.

The museum holds documents, tools, moulds, packaging and the machinery used across more than a century, tracing how the sweets were made before mechanisation: almonds turned in copper basins over heat while sugar syrup was added by hand in layer after layer over days.

Mucci is known for varieties beyond the standard almond, including confetti filled with fig, chocolate or liqueur.

Tastings accompany the guided visit, and the shop is the point for many.

Andria is also known for Castel del Monte, Frederick II's octagonal castle nearby.
