This museum covers two Italian emergency services across 2,500 square metres in Manfredonia: the Vigili del Fuoco and the Italian Red Cross.

The firefighting collection runs from hand-pumped engines through horse-drawn steamers to twentieth-century motorised appliances, with helmets, uniforms, breathing apparatus and alarm equipment tracing how the work changed. Italian fire service history has particular episodes worth knowing — the corps has been central to earthquake response in a seismically active country, and its role at Vajont, Friuli, Irpinia and L'Aquila is substantial.

The Red Cross section covers the organisation founded after Solferino in 1859, when Henry Dunant witnessed the aftermath of a battle in Lombardy and proposed the neutral relief societies that became the movement — an Italian origin that the museum can claim directly. Ambulances, field equipment and wartime material fill it.
