O MUSA é um jardim botânico e centro de pesquisa situado na Reserva Florestal Adolpho Ducke, em Manaus, dedicado ao estudo e divulgação da biodiversidade amazônica.

MUSA is a botanical garden and research centre inside the Adolpho Ducke Forest Reserve on the edge of Manaus — 100 square kilometres of primary Amazon rainforest that the city has grown up against. Rather than displaying the Amazon in cases, the museum takes visitors into it: marked trails through the forest, collections of live and preserved specimens, orchid and bromeliad houses, an aquarium of Amazonian fish, and exhibitions on biodiversity, ecology and indigenous knowledge.
The observation tower is the centrepiece — 42 metres of steel stairs rising above the canopy, giving a view across unbroken forest to the horizon and, from above, a perspective on the canopy layer where most rainforest life actually happens.
Because it is genuine primary forest rather than a park, wildlife encounters are a matter of luck, and a biologist guide makes an enormous difference to what you notice.
Practical points: heat and humidity are serious, insect repellent is necessary, and closed shoes are sensible for the trails.
