Brussels has the largest of the Museum of Illusions branches in the Benelux countries, and its exhibit count reflects that — the usual perceptual repertoire is unusually extensive here, with tilted and mirrored rooms, holograms, stereograms and a vortex tunnel spread across a substantial floor area.

The educational framing is more developed than the photo-attraction label suggests. Each installation explains the specific mechanism it exploits, which for a city with a large international school population makes it a common school-trip destination as well as a tourist stop.

Brussels rains often and its major museums — the Magritte, the Fine Arts, the Musical Instruments Museum — demand concentration, so an hour of participatory nonsense fills an obvious gap, particularly with children.
