Museum of the Future

Opened on February 22, 2022, the Museum of the Future in Dubai offers visitors an immersive journey into potential futures through interactive exhibits and cutting-edge technologies. Designed by Killa Design, the building’s unique torus shape is adorned with Arabic calligraphy featuring inspirational quotes by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The museum’s five main sections include OSS Hope, The HEAL Institute, Al Waha, Tomorrow Today, and Future Heroes, each focusing on different aspects of future advancements and challenges. Located along Sheikh Zayed Road, it stands as a testament to Dubai’s commitment to innovation and forward-thinking.

Planning your visit

The Museum of the Future is a torus of stainless steel and glass on Sheikh Zayed Road, its surface covered in Arabic calligraphy — quotations from Dubai's ruler — that doubles as the windows, cut through the cladding. The void in the middle is deliberate, representing what is not yet known. It opened in February 2022 and has become one of the city's landmarks on the strength of the building alone.

Inside, it is closer to immersive theatre than to a museum. Visitors ride a lift framed as a journey to a space station, then move through sections set decades ahead: OSS Hope, an orbital research station; the HEAL Institute, addressing ecosystem collapse and biodiversity restoration; Al Waha, a wellness space built around analogue sensory experience; Tomorrow Today, showing near-term technology; and Future Heroes, a children's zone. There are no traditional artefacts, and the propositions are speculative by design.

Tickets are timed and demand is high — this regularly sells out days in advance, and walk-up entry is rarely available. Allow around two hours.
