The Olive Oil Museum occupies a restored family oil mill with the original equipment: the stone press, the mill wheel, the settling vats and the tools of an operation that was central to Brač's economy for centuries.
Brač is better known for its stone — the white limestone quarried here was used in Diocletian's Palace and, according to persistent local claim, in the White House — but olives were the agricultural mainstay on terraced slopes built by hand over generations.
