San Siro is shared, which makes it unusual. Officially the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, it hosts both AC Milan and Internazionale — two clubs that split from each other in 1908 over whether to field foreign players — and the museum inside covers both, with trophies, shirts, boots and memorabilia arranged so that supporters of each can find their own history without acknowledging the other's.

The stadium is the real attraction. Built in 1926 and expanded repeatedly, its exterior spiral ramps and red girder roof are among the most recognisable in football, and the tour takes visitors through the changing rooms, the tunnel and out to the pitchside, where the scale of the tiers overhead registers properly.

The Derby della Madonnina is played here, and the atmosphere on those nights is genuinely fearsome.

Both clubs have long planned a replacement stadium, so the building's future is uncertain — an argument for going while it stands.
