Located in Sapporo’s Garden Park, the Sapporo Beer Museum showcases the history of Sapporo Beer, Japan’s oldest beer brand, in a historic red-brick building.

Sapporo Beer is Japan's oldest brand, founded in 1876 when the Meiji government established a brewery in Hokkaido as part of developing the northern island — German-trained Japanese brewers, Hokkaido barley and hops, and a cold climate suited to lager.
The museum occupies the original red-brick malting house of 1890, a designated heritage building, and covers the company's history alongside the wider story of Hokkaido's colonisation and industrial development.
The tasting room at the end offers the standard beers plus the Kaitakushi Beer brewed to the original 1876 recipe and sold only here.
The Sapporo Beer Garden next door serves jingisukan — grilled mutton on a domed skillet, the Hokkaido speciality — which is the traditional pairing.
Guided tours require reservation and run in Japanese, with self-guided options in English.
