Stiegl has brewed in Salzburg since 1492 and is Austria's largest private brewery, and the Brauwelt is its 5,000-square-metre visitor centre — the largest brewery museum in the country.

The route covers brewing history, the Reinheitsgebot-adjacent Austrian traditions, the raw materials, and the process, with the world's largest beer tankard on display and interactive stations throughout.

The tasting at the end includes several Stiegl beers, and the beer garden and cellar restaurant serve Austrian food.

Salzburg's tourism is overwhelmingly Mozart and Sound of Music, and the brewery is the local alternative — genuinely part of the city's economy rather than staged for visitors.
