The Beatles Story is an immersive museum in Liverpool’s Royal Albert Dock, chronicling The Beatles’ journey from their Liverpool origins to global fame.
Planning your visit
The Beatles Story runs chronologically through the band's history in a series of recreated spaces — the Casbah, the Cavern, the Hamburg clubs where they played eight-hour sets, Abbey Road, the Sgt. Pepper period and the split — with an audio guide narrated in part by Paul McCartney's sister-in-law and by George Harrison's sister.
Original instruments, clothing, documents and George's first guitar are among the artefacts, and John Lennon's white piano is displayed.
Liverpool's Beatles industry is large and varies in quality; this is the substantial museum end of it, opened in 1990 and located in the Royal Albert Dock alongside Tate Liverpool and the Maritime Museum.
The Cavern Club on Mathew Street, the Magical Mystery Tour bus to Penny Lane and Strawberry Field, and the childhood homes run by the National Trust extend the day considerably.
