The Tromsø museum, Norway's first devoted to the subject, uses augmented reality delivered on a tablet: pointing it at the exhibits animates the creatures and plays out the tales, which works better with children than static folklore displays ever do.
The material covers the trolls, the hulder and the nisse, the Norse mythological background, and the tale collectors Asbjørnsen and Moe, whose nineteenth-century work did for Norway what the Grimms did for Germany.
