Mølstertunet is a hill farm above Voss whose sixteen buildings stand where they were built, between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries — which makes it different from most open-air museums, where structures are relocated from elsewhere.

The cluster includes dwellings, storehouses on stilts to keep rodents out, barns, a smithy and a mill, with turf roofs and interiors furnished as the family left them. Rose painting, carved woodwork and textiles show the folk art of the district.

Voss farming was hard: steep ground, short seasons, and a heavy dependence on summer mountain pasture, and the buildings reflect that economy directly.

The site looks down over the lake and the valley, and the walk up is part of it.

Voss is on the Bergen railway and is Norway's centre for extreme sports, which makes an odd pairing.
