The Bát Tràng Museum of Viet Soul Art showcases the rich history and craftsmanship of Vietnamese ceramics, founded by the late National Artist Vũ Đức Thắng.

Bat Trang has made ceramics for around seven centuries, on clay deposits beside the Red River outside Hanoi, and its wares were exported across Southeast Asia and to Japan and Europe during the trading centuries.

The Museum of Viet Soul Art was founded by Vu Duc Thang, a National Artist who worked to revive traditional glazes and forms while developing his own. It holds his work alongside historic Bat Trang pieces, tracing the village's output from Ly and Tran dynasty wares through the blue-and-white of later centuries to contemporary production.

The village around it is the real attraction: workshops and kilns on every street, the ceramics market, and studios where visitors can throw and paint their own pieces.

The newer Bat Trang Ceramic Community House, a striking building of stacked potter's wheels, is nearby and often included.
