France's chocolate history runs through the court. Anne of Austria brought the Spanish habit to Louis XIII's court in 1615, and drinking chocolate became a fixture of French aristocratic life — served at Versailles, discussed by Madame de Sevigne, and eventually democratised.
The Paris Choco-Story covers 4,000 years of cacao from Mesoamerica onward, with a substantial collection of historic chocolate services, pots, moulds and equipment, and material on the French tradition specifically, including the chocolatiers who established Paris as a centre of fine chocolate.
Demonstrations of tempering and moulding run through the day, with generous tasting, and workshops are available.
It sits on Boulevard de Bonne Nouvelle in the 10th arrondissement.
