Rogalowe Muzeum Poznania

Located in the heart of Poznań’s Old Market Square, the museum offers interactive shows on the history and preparation of St. Martin’s Croissants, a local culinary specialty.

The rogal swietomarcinski is a Poznan croissant filled with white poppy seed, nuts, raisins and candied fruit, made in enormous quantities around St Martin's day on the eleventh of November, and protected by EU geographical indication — only certified bakeries in the region may produce it.

The Croissant Museum on the Old Market Square stages live shows rather than displaying objects: bakers make the pastry in front of the audience, volunteers from the visitors help, and the whole thing is conducted partly in the Poznan dialect, which is explained as it goes. It is genuinely funny and considerably more engaging than a conventional food museum.

The history covers the legend of St Martin, the guild traditions and the local identity the pastry carries.

Shows run in Polish and English at set times, and tasting is included.
