The Irish Rock 'n' Roll Museum Experience is unusual in that most of it is a working building rather than a museum. Based at the Button Factory in Temple Bar, the guided tour moves through live venues, rehearsal rooms and functioning recording studios, so visitors see the machinery of music production in use rather than behind glass.

The exhibits cover Irish popular music — U2, Thin Lizzy, The Pogues, Sinéad O'Connor, The Cranberries, Hozier and the showband era that preceded them — with instruments, stage clothing and memorabilia. The Wall of Fame outside carries portraits of the major figures.

The strongest element is the studio time: visitors enter a live recording studio, and some formats include a chance to sing or play. The rooftop terrace over Temple Bar closes the tour.

Tours are guided and scheduled, running around ninety minutes, with English-language departures throughout the day.
