Berlin's street art is a genuine consequence of its history — the Wall's western face was painted continuously, and the squats and cheap space of the 1990s made the city a centre for the form — so a museum of urban contemporary art belongs here more than most places.
Urban Nation opened in 2017 in Schöneberg, and its own facade is part of the programme, with panels changed periodically by invited artists.
Inside, the collection and exhibitions cover graffiti, muralism, stencil, paste-up and studio work by artists who came out of the street, and the museum runs workshops and residencies rather than treating the material purely historically.
Admission is free.
The surrounding Bülowstraße blocks carry large commissioned murals, so the neighbourhood is part of the visit.
