Housed in a 17th-century Baroque palace, Ca’ Pesaro showcases 19th and 20th-century art, including works by Klimt, Kandinsky, and Rodin, alongside a vast collection of oriental art.

Ca' Pesaro is a Baroque palace on the Grand Canal by Baldassare Longhena, and it holds Venice's modern art collection — acquisitions largely made from the Biennale, which the city has hosted since 1895.

The holdings are genuinely strong: Klimt's Judith II, works by Kandinsky, Chagall, Klee, Mirо́, Moore and Rodin, alongside Italian nineteenth and twentieth-century painting and a substantial group of Venetian modernists. The Biennale purchasing history means the collection documents what was considered significant contemporary art at successive moments.

The upper floor holds the Museum of Oriental Art — around 30,000 Japanese, Chinese and Indonesian objects assembled by an Austrian prince in the 1880s, including Edo-period armour, lacquer and prints, and one of the more important Japanese collections in Europe.
