ABBA The Museum

ABBA The Museum in Stockholm offers an immersive experience into the world of ABBA, showcasing original costumes, gold records, and interactive exhibits. Visitors can perform on stage with holograms of the band members, test their knowledge with the ABBA Quiz, and sing ABBA songs in the museum’s karaoke studio. The museum also features a recreation of the Polar Studio, where many of ABBA’s hits were recorded, and a section dedicated to their 1974 Eurovision Song Contest performance. Planning your visit

ABBA The Museum is participatory by design, and the tagline — walk in, dance out — is accurate. Alongside original stage costumes, gold records, instruments and the reconstructed Polar Studio control room where much of the catalogue was recorded, the museum builds the visit around doing: singing in a karaoke booth, mixing a track, dancing on stage alongside holographic band members, and taking a call on a telephone that only the four members know the number of, which does occasionally ring.

The history is covered properly too — the 1974 Eurovision win in Brighton with Waterloo, the global scale of what followed, the divorces that ran alongside the later albums, and the songwriting partnership behind it.

Everything is tied to a digital ticket that captures your performances for retrieval afterwards, which is either delightful or alarming depending on the performance.

It sits on Djurgarden near the Vasa Museum and Grona Lund.
