Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is a modern and contemporary art museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting international art of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Planning your visit
PAMM moved in 2013 into a Herzog and de Meuron building on Biscayne Bay, and the architecture responds directly to the climate: a deep overhanging canopy shades a wide veranda, hanging gardens of tropical plants drop from it in columns, and the whole structure is raised on stilts against storm surge.
The collection focuses on twentieth and twenty-first century art with a deliberate emphasis on the Atlantic rim — Caribbean, Latin American and African diaspora artists alongside North American and European work, which reflects Miami's actual population rather than a generic international programme.
The veranda, with its hammocks and bay view, is where most visitors end up, and it is free to sit there.
Miami's art scene grew substantially around Art Basel, and PAMM is the institutional anchor of it.
